A reader recently wrote
in about an alternative product which
extends the life of razors called RazorMax.
We had report on RazorGuard back in a
December article, and it seems there are
several similar products on the market
now.
Scientific research proves
that the majority of your razors dull
edge is the result of oxidation and calcification
of the blade. This is caused by rinsing
and storing your blade in open air, over
and over again. The combination of soap,
moisture, shaving crème, and indoor
air quickly corrode the fine cutting edge
of your blade. This is usually under 10
days for most blades on the market. The
act of shaving only has a gradual effect
on blade wear. The graphic below shows
the corrosive deposits that quickly build
up on the blade edge. These irregular
deposits rapidly alter the cutting edge
creating the dullness effect along with
nicks and cuts.
